Scavenger Hunt: More items
Double Helix's Scavenger Hunt arrives sealed, all the items fitting easily enough in the given bag, several in a separate ziploc bag. A baseball ticket, a picture of his family with the Rockettes, a CD, some trading cards and a T-shirt. Also enclosed is a note: "I'll get these back, right? - Wesley"
Gideon is sitting on the couch in here, his left arm sitting in a sling as he watches TV, seemingly with no interest as he flips channels every so often and he groans, "Why is there no good shows on..." He just sighs and sends a vine snaking to the kitchen to fetch him something to drink. There are two earlier cans sitting on the table in front of him, indicating he's been there for awhile.
Wesley wanders in, a box under his arm. He glances to Gideon, waving with his free hand. "Hey. How'd you hurt your arm?" he wonders, moving over to sit near his squadmate, opening up the box. It's filled with cards, of the sort kids collect and play games with.
Gideon looks at Wesley as he comes in and says, "Some guys tried to mug me in the city a few days ago. They got it worse than I did from my lifelong companion, but they still hurt my arm." He looks at the box and asks, "Whats in the box?"
"Parent's sent me some stuff that was just laying in my room at home. Think they said they're repainting it or something, and needed a place to put my 'junk.'" Wes looks at the arm for a moment. "Stopped a pursesnatcher a while back, he tried to stab me." He grabs a handful of cards, flipping through them.
Gideon nods and says, "You'd expect they'd be a little more... selective about their targets. Given that any joe on the street can be a mutant these days." He sighs and says, "And after that, my friend... probably the only one I've had since before this mutation, she said some things to me, and I lost control on her, but I don't think I hurt her, but she threw me out of her apartment." He sighs, "Shit just sucks right now. Since I'm expecting her boyfriend to pay me a visit any day now."
Wesley flinches at that. "Damn, rough break. Anyone I know?" he asks, setting aside a card, it's duplicate, and it's triplicate.
Gideon nods and says, "Emma Frost... and if you know anything about her... Adam, our Adam, is her boyfriend. So I'm expecting to probably be eaten by a grizzly in my sleep any day." He sighs and says, "I should probably talk to Felix... he might stop Adam from doing anything stupid."
"In all honesty... I wouldn't count on it. And... well, you might want to hide," Wesley admits. "Felix, if Felix was pissed at you, I could help. With /Adam/ pissed at you. Hell, I haven't gotten him to forgive /me/ yet, I'd just hope his four legged brain isn't as powerful as Felix's. Otherwise... you might want to buy a will kit." He digs through the cards, digging up a picture of his and his family at a performance of the Rockettes, and a ticket stub from the first baseball game his father ever took him to. He considers them both for a moment, then sets them with the card.
Gideon nods and sighs, "Damn... and his girlfriend... I figure I shall have a few teeth in my hide when all's said and done." He looks and says, "I guess I should take Q's advice... always have a escape plan." He looks at the cards and asks, "Are those playing cards?"
"Sorta. This old DC card game they came out with a while back. It never /really/ caught on, but I liked having it for the cards. Played a little here and there." Wesley shakes his head. "Hopefully Adam's got enough of a brain to not actually kill you. If not, I can /possibly/ take him." He turns to the boy. "Hey, do you still have the flier for that free chocolate thing? I lost mine." Okay, maybe not so much lost.
Gideon nods to Wesley, although he doesn't look too reassured by that thought. "Yeah, I have the flier. It's in my room, I never throw anything away." He looks at the cards, studying them with interest.
"Think you can grab it? I'm trying to get some stuff together for the Scavenger Hunt. Yeah, we got a huge lead, but it never hurts to get a few extra points," Wesley explains. "They make Sushi with Seaweed, right?"
Gideon nods and says, "Sure." He starts to get to his feet, about to head upstairs to his room and asks, "Anything else you can think of that we need?"
"Don't have the list on me, but..." He squints, considering. "We don't have enough girly girls on our squad, we need a stuffed animal. If you can think of anything, bring it on down." Wesley starts to gather up his stuff. "On second thought, I'll come with."
Gideon tilts his head and says, "Nah, go ahead and stay, I'll be quick." He starts on up to his room.
Wesley pauses in mid rise, then takes a seat. "Oh. Alright. Just grab what you can."
Gideon comes back with the flyer and sits back down on the couch, extending it to Wesley, "Here you go. I remember those damn chocolates. Horrid as hell." He grabs the remote, beginning to flip through shows again.
Wesley takes the flyer, adding it to the collection. "I don't know, the white ones were fun. Held onto my leftovers, actually," he says with a small grin. "Though, now I only have dark chocolate, and if my experiments were right, that's... not something I /want/ to give to anyone. Might flush em."
Gideon nods to Wesley and says, "Yeah, you might want to... or we could give them to Adam, see how flipped out he gets... of course it'd likely be the last thing either of us did." He laughs with a grin and says, "Better flush em."
"If I had the happy ones left, I'd give Adam a box for you," Wesley offers with a very slight smile.
Gideon nods and says, "Yeah... I might still have some of mine though." He gets a thoughtful look on his face and says, "Although I think Felix would get ticked that we were thinking of drugging him."
"Well, for all I know, the chocolates just have crazy high endorphin levels, nothing illegal or harmful," Wesley points out. "I practically ate that box alone, and I'm fine."
Gideon nods and says, "Yeah... although I don't think that would save us once they wore off and Adam found out what we did. We'd need a lifetime supply of those things to stave off the carnage."
"Well, if you hadn't noticed the other people eating the chocolates acting strange, would /you/ have noticed?" Wesley wonders. "Moot point though, I guess."
Gideon nods and says, "I'm sure someone would notice and eventually find out whats going on. Fun idea though." He sighs and offers the remote to Wesley. His hunt for a good show has failed. "If there's something good on, could you let me know?"
"Dude, I don't even know what you'd like," Wesley points out. "And I don't watch much TV, I usually just download episodes and stuff."
Gideon nods to Wesley and says, "Same here. Comes with having God-Only-Knows how much computing power at your fingertips being the rich brat of a computer company family."
"And watching a lot of stuff that doesn't even /air/ over here," Wesley says with a sideways glance.
Gideon looks at Wesley and says, "You aren't downloading a bunch of porn are you? I think the teachers would take some issues with that. This is still a school man. Not that that's ever stopped anyone before..."
"Nooooo," Wesley says, rolling his eyes. "Just lots of stuff that airs in Japan, and Britain and stuff."
Gideon nods and says, "Ahh. Anime and such? Yeah, I watch those too... what sorts do you like?"
"Pretty eclectic mix. Some kinda hard core action stuff, like that direct to video Hellsing series, some just flat out goofy stuff. Basically, if it doesn't have guys making out, or giant robots as an excuse for confusing/depressing storylines, I'm good," Wesley says with a chuckle.
Gideon replies, "Ahh. Then I guess you hate Evangelion? Ah! My Goddess is one of the better ones I watch, always a good show, even if it involves one absolutely clueless college guy with beautiful women around him 24/7." He chuckles and says, "Hellsing's a good one too though."
"That's a good one," Wesley admits with a nod. "I like /early/ Eva. Up until about episode... 13 or so?" He shrugs. "I still say Gurren Laggan was Gainax's way of apologizing for what Eva did to the mech genre."
Gideon nods to Wesley and says, "Yeah. Once it breaks into the later episodes, it becomes a shitload of philosophical crap. Still a good series, but still." He looks around the room and says, "Quiet this evening."
"That, and the few redeeming qualities of the characters get drowned out by their worst traits. I wanted to strangle ever last one of them," Wesley admits, shaking his head solemnly.
Gideon nods to Wesley and says, "No kidding. Asuka does get strangled in the end however... by crazy Shinji. If she hadn't been such a bitch, those two would have worked out nicely together. At least thats what I thought. Shinji needed someone kicking him in the pants to get moving and Asuka needed someone to keep her from killing someone."
"I cheered a little." Wesley admits with a grin. He stands up, gathering his things. "Good luck finding something on TV, I should probably add this stuff to our Scavenger Hunt bag."
Gideon nods to Wesley and says, "See you later Wesley. If you don't see me for a few days, call the President." He grins to Wesley before he nods, turning back to the TV.
Wesley fields his first concern from a squadmate. His recommendation? Chocolate, and lots of it. Also, Double Helix doubles their scavenger hunt total.
